It is never too late to appologize
by Zivka Deleva

After almost forty years from the bloody killings of 13 Irish civilians in Londondary, the new British Prime Minister David Cameron is the first politician that has publicly said he was sorry about the "unjustified and unjustifiable" killings in the history of Northern Ireland. The case is known as Bloody Sunday and happened on January 30, 1972, when British troops killed 13 civilians and very important, non armed people.   Few days ago came the report about the case. It contains 5000 pages. The victims relatives in the Irish City marched in the name of the belated justice, together with thousands of supporters.   "There is no doubt .. what happened on Bloody Sund! ay was both unjustified and unjustifiable. It was wrong. On behalf of the government .... I am deeply sorry" - he told the House of Commons in London.  In 1998, there have been reached a peace deal. In few decades, around 3500 people have died in the violence history named The Troubles. Catholics against Protestants raised hands and spread bloodshed. North Ireland still is very emotionally weak when it comes to  the word violence.  The report comes after 12 years research and the goal was to depict the whole truth about the murderous years. The initiative came from the premier from that time Tony Blair.   This kind of act like Cameron's maybe are hypocritical, but in any case, are needed to show that one regrets about a mistake has made and the history to remember who was guilty. Though, there is no tougher justice than the belated one! Only the victims' relatives know what does these words really mean.

No more British troops to Afghanistan says David Cameron
by Zuzana Zelenakova

Conservative David Cameron, who was appointed the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on May 11 has made his first official visit to Afghanistan since assuming the office. Aware of the public stance on Britain´s involvement in Afghanistan he acknowledged that people need to see “real and noticeable and marked progress”. Otherwise the support for the mission will be gone altogether. British PM met with President Hamid Karzai in the capital of Kabul and said that "Our overriding focus must be to help the Afghans and to help Afghanistan take control of its own destiny." He also announced that his government will provide £67 million for the British force! s to deal with extremely dangerous roadside bombs, which account for most casualties among soldiers from Western countries. He stressed how important it is not to let al-Qaeda return to Afghanistan, but at the same time said he will not keep the British soldiers in the country “a moment longer than is necessary.” Currently, Britain has about 9,500 troops in Afghanistan and Cameron refuses the idea of sending more, even though he declared Afghanistan “the most important foreign policy issue, the most important national security issue for my country.” Only the United States exceed Britain in number of troops deployed in the NATO mission in Afghanistan. The war in Afghanistan is an ongoing coalition conflict that began back in 2001 as a response to September 11 attacks on the United States. The main aim of the invasion was to capture Osama bin Laden and other top al-Qaeda members and destroy the whole terrorist organization. So far, however, the Taliban! movement, that governed the country since 1996 until the inva! sion, ha s managed to retain its strength. In January 2010, Afghan President Hamid Karzai informed that he intends to reach out to the Taliban leaders in order to organize peace talks.

English taxi driver killed 12 people
by Magdalena Rosova

Derrick Bird, 52-year old taxi driver, shoot 12 people in Rowrah, northern England. His neighbours and friends have expressed shock that such a “normal bloke” could do something so awful. Media reported that it could have been an argument in family or a row at work that made Bird to overreact. Wednesday morning Bird drove to peaceful district and in a rage shoot 12 people and then killed himself. Police do not yet know the motivation for the attack. The taxi driver did not have any history of mental illness. Some medias reported the reason could be argument in his family over will of his mother. According to the Times newspaper, Bird's twin brother David as wel! l as the family's solicitor Kevin J. Commons were among the victims. Bird's colleague said that Bird quarreled with another driver, few hours before the killings, over queue-jumping in the taxi ranks. Another colleague said that after that Brick had shook all their hands and said that tomorrow there was going to be a rampage. Bird's good friend Peter Ledder also proved that there had been indication that he would do something horrible. Ledder said they had had conversation at Tuesday's midnight and Bird had told him he would not see him again. Bird's neighbours are shocked and said that he was quiet man living alone in the village who worked hard. It seems Bird was a pleasant guy who always had time to say hello and never had been in a bad mood. Therefore no one understand such a change of character. Newspapers reported that he had guns after his father who died years ago.

Crainte et dégoût dans le comté britannique de Cumbria
by Zivka Deleva

Fear and loathing in the British county Cumbria
by Zivka Deleva

Something is rotten in the State of Denmark - Hamlet asked himself a long time ago in the Shakespearean play. Something is rotten in the England's county of Cumbria, I could write today, after one man killed 12 people and left 25 wounded. British people are shocked, because this is the first most massive shooting in Great Britain in the last 14 years. This is a rare situation in this country, knowing that handguns are forbidden and that's why the massive shooting almost don't happen. In the last few years there have been less then a hundred gun murders annually across the whole country. The body of a 52-year-old taxi-driver Derrick Bird was found in woods near Boot, a plac! e popular with vacationers. The police is convinced that he was the gunman. The rampage happened in the county of Cumbria. The police still doesn't know his motive. Some people say that he was nervous the day before and had yellow fights with his taxi-colleagues. One of them, reminded himself about the last words the gunman has said the previous day - "See you Peter, but I won't see you again". The murders didn't happen at one place, on the contrary, it took him 30 places to "accomplish his intentions". Witnesses recognized two of Bird's colleagues dead. He was shooting from his car's window and directly to the faces. “When lives and communities are suddenly shattered in this way, our thoughts should be with all those caught up in these tragic events, especially the families and friends of those killed or injured,” said the Prime Minister David Cameron to the lawmakers in the House of Commons. The tight gun ownership regulation exists since two massacres ha! ppened in the 1980's and 1990's, when total 33 people were kil! led.
