Ex-British premier "For Sale"
by Zuzana Zelenakova

Anthony Charles Lynton Blair has served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from May 1997 to June 2007. But if you think he might long for peace and quiet existence after ten years in high politics you are gravely mistaken. After resigning as British PM he was appointed as Middle East Envoy for the United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia. He spends a lot of time in Jerusalem working unpaid with full-time staff of 12 people. It was confirmed this month that Blair will also act as a part-time senior advisor to investment bank JP Morgan Chase. He will advise to Swiss insurance firm Zurich as well. Blair admitted himself he could very well go on like that and accept even more similar posts as he got used to "tremendous load" as PM . He earned over ₤7 million this year alone. Some say his need for money is due to the fact he has a ₤3.5 million mortgage for London townhouse to take care of. Anyway, one thing is certain, Blair is on good way to become the richest ex prime minister in history. According to the media, Blair even aspires to become the first President of the European Council. We can very well call the post "President of Europe".

Winston's Little Army online
by Sandra Stoklaskova

If you are interested in history, soldiers or both of it, if you are interested in First World War and affairs from those times, we have great news for you. The stories of common soldiers are being broadcasted online, for the first time for public audience. Ancestry.co.uk published on their website the records of more than 10,000 Naval servicemen who were fighting neck and neck with Army during the First World War. These records include letters, diaries and memoires that bear testimony to life and also death of a legendary fighting force called "Winston's Little Army". The records document date, burial location and the reason of the death of 10,200 servicemen fallen from 1914 to 1918. Considerable part of them, approximately 1,000, died On April 28 in 1917 during the fight for Gavrelle windmill. This day is judged as the bloodiest day in the history of Royal Marines. "The Royal Naval Division were considered to be real crack troops and their exploits have most certainly become legendary, making this collection an important resource for anyone interested in World War One history," said Simon Harper, managing director of the Ancestry.co.uk website. He also remarked, that these records provide not only fascinating insight into the lives of soldiers on the Western Front, but more importantly they are for many the only record of a serviceman's death and burial, helping to preserve the memory of Winston's Little Army for generations to come. Thanks to the technology of these days all of us can find out more about the history and about the lives of these amazing servicemen.

Quarrel about the nuclear energy
by Martina Harvanova

The quarrels about whether to build new nuclear power stations or not are a world-wide issue. The UK has recently said "yes" to the idea. Long-lasting questions about its pros and cons were solved, as the final decision apparently prefers advantages of nuclear energy. The whole "build-nuclear-plants" thing began to be discussed years ago among others also on the level of politics. The British Conservatives saw the nuclear power as a "last resort", on the other hand, the Liberal Democrats brought an accusation against them saying they "surrendered to the nuclear lobby". No matter what opinion they preferred, one thing is sure. The recent decree admitted its pluses. Most of the for-voices claim it is safe and secure, plus Britain won't rely on imports in the future. Nuclear power stations will contribute to decrease of carbon emissions which are deemed as one of the most harmful factors to Earth's atmosphere. Still, there are wind power stations, but, unfortunately, these aren't able to provide us with sufficient amount of energy. As some experts' remarks say, "a mix of energy is essential and we should not be over dependent on one source." However, the main reason for decision to dispose of more nuclear energy was meeting Britain's energy policy goals. The target is to reduce carbon emissions by 60% by 2050. The major opponent of the idea is probably Greenpeace movement. Their clauses recline in the opinion that nuclear power is irrelevant, because it only produces electricity, cut carbon emissions only in four per cent and therefore won't stop the climate change. Greenpeace stresses renewable sources f energy, such as wind, wave or tidal energy. Although it is hard to agree fully with either the first or the second view, the important thing is that the majority of public and world authorities conceives the pollution and is ready to improve the current environmental situation.
