by Sandra Stoklaskova

If you are interested in history, soldiers or both of it, if you are interested in First World War and affairs from those times, we have great news for you. The stories of common soldiers are being broadcasted online, for the first time for public audience.Ancestry.co.uk published on their website the records of more than 10,000 Naval servicemen who were fighting neck and neck with Army during the First World War. These records include letters, diaries and memoires that bear testimony to life and also death of a legendary fighting force called "Winston's Little Army".The records document date, burial location and the reason of the death of 10,200 servicemen fallen from 1914 to 1918. Considerable part of them, approximately 1,000, died On April 28 in 1917 during the fight for Gavrelle windmill. This day is judged as the bloodiest day in the history of Royal Marines."The Royal Naval Division were considered to be real crack troops and their exploits have most certainly become legendary, making this collection an important resource for anyone interested in World War One history," said Simon Harper, managing director of the Ancestry.co.uk website. He also remarked, that these records provide not only fascinating insight into the lives of soldiers on the Western Front, but more importantly they are for many the only record of a serviceman's death and burial, helping to preserve the memory of Winston's Little Army for generations to come. Thanks to the technology of these days all of us can find out more about the history and about the lives of these amazing servicemen.
