British Airways strike enters second day by Magdalena Rosova

Cabin crew of British Airways entered the second day of a four-day strike on Sunday. The srike caused travel disruption and initiated increasingly political dispute. 12,000 British Airways cabin crew, who are part of the Unite trade union, say they are likely to srike until British Airlines makes an acceptable offer for them. Opposition Conservative leader David Cameron used the strike to accuse Prime Minister Gordon Brown, because his Labour party receives much of funding from Unite trade union. The fact that it is just few weeks before an election in Great Britain made the strike political matter. Cameron said that Brown was weak to deal with the strike and he was th! reatened because he was hocked to the money from the unions. According to Cameron the unions scented government's weakness and therefore so many strikes are taking place in Britain. Brown protected himself saying that in the past 13 years of the Labour government there had been more peace that there had been in the times of Conservative rule. For Brown British Airways strike makes no sense as it is not good for public, nor British Airways of workers. But he wanted to give strikers chance for negotiation. Unite, the largest trade union in Britain, said the dispute with British Airlines would continue until both sides come to a sensible agreement. British Airways cabin crew strikes because of the the company's strategy to cut costs. But British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh says that the airline needs to adapt to the changes in the industry and new economic conditions. Welsh claims that without changes British Airways had no chance to survive in future.
